I began my career in the trades at a young age, gaining hands-on experience in everything from framing and drywall to flooring and high-end finish carpentry. In 2006, I transitioned into project management and eventually founded my first general contracting firm in the Denver Metro area.

Construction has always been more than a job for me, it’s a passion. Throughout my career, I’ve continuously looked for better, smarter ways to build, always focused on improving quality and results. I firmly believe that just because something has “always been done that way” doesn’t mean there isn’t a better solution. Melken WeatherGuard™ is the embodiment of that belief.

Joshua Smith

Owner

Joshua has spent his life in construction, seeing it as the backbone of strong communities. Raised on a ranch in southeastern Colorado, he developed hands-on problem-solving skills and a passion for craftsmanship while working alongside his father, a structural and mechanical engineer. After earning a Bachelor of Science in Business and Management, Joshua joined his family’s inspection and testing firm in Orlando, specializing in non-destructive testing across theme park rides, power plants, high-rise construction, and FAA aircraft components, fostering a deep commitment to quality, safety, and precision. Today, he leads Melken Industries with business partner Jed Teel, focusing on integrity, craftsmanship, and lasting client relationships, delivering USA-made building products and trusted results nationwide.

Kaden Redinger

VP of Sales

Kaden leads national sales strategy, channel development and key customer relationships in our markets. With a background rooted in retail sales, builder and distributor relations and project driven sales, Kaden brings a practical, result focused approach to our growing market share while maintaining stronger partner relationships.

Ken Huckeba 

Inventor

Melken WeatherGuard™ was founded in 2012 by Ken Huckeba, a veteran of the home building and remodeling industry with more than 30 years of hands on experience. Recognizing the need for a more durable and energy efficient solution, Ken led the development of the Melken WeatherGuard™ system to solve persistent issues contractors face with garage door, side jamb, and header sealing. Ken still participates in R&D for the company.
